Let's face it...
the benchmark for every motorcycle movie that will ever be made is
"On Any Sunday"... probably not fair to anybody. Having said
that let's move onto the review of Ty Karney's latest offering, "Chehalis
Classic 2003".
This is undoubtedly
Ty's most "On Any Sunday-esque" effort to date...
The high video production
values are standard Ty Karney material. This years excellent camera
work includes a greater variety of angles and perspectives than in
years past... combined with the quick cuts, a rockin' lively sound
track keeps the video moving along at a brisk pace.
The enthusiasm Ty
has for his subject is evident in his excellent narration... his love
of the sport and sense of humor shine through on this tape.
There are several
scenes on the tape that make it worth the price of admission... first
and foremost would be Jim Pomeroy's GP trophy presentation at the
riders meeting (righting a wrong done 30 years ago...), Jeff Smith
and Dick Mann on the starting line and flying around the Chehalis
track, and Jeff Smith's interview... to name a just a few.
Bottom line... GET
THIS TAPE! Half way through my first screening of the tape I found
myself sitting on the couch with a huge silly grin plastered across
my face (no... there was no beer involved), subsequent screenings
are still producing the same result. If you raced the event, or are
just interested in the vintage scene... this is a must have.
